Climate Smart Leasing to build its first chemical-free wastewater treatment plants

Climate Smart Leasing will deploy and operate wastewater treatment plants using Swedish electrocoagulation technology. This will allow water to be recirculated without chemical coagulants, which produce toxic sludge.
According to the article, Climate Smart Leasing will begin building its first two treatment plants at the end of this year in the Biobío and La Araucanía regions. Each facility will cover 200 square meters and require an investment of US$3 million.
The Swedish technology releases metal ions into the water that act as “natural coagulants,” attracting and neutralizing contaminants, microorganisms and salts. This allows water to be recirculated and cuts the solid waste generated by up to 70%, while also reducing emissions and the water footprint.
Climate Smart Leasing operates under an operating-lease model, handling the installation, maintenance and operation of the plant and charging per cubic meter of water treated. The company has run trials with several industrial sectors, adapting the technology to each industry’s needs.
This Climate Smart Leasing initiative represents a sustainable alternative for treating industrial wastewater without hazardous chemicals.
